Fountain Hill Studio was started by Jonathon Russell in 2014 as a way of continuing to mentor artists who want to improve their Craft and Art. Jonathon retired from Grand Rapids Community College in the spring of 2014 after teaching Photography for 37 years. During his tenure, he has seen many changes in both the Art of Photography and in Education in general.
The workshops offered by Fountain Hill Studio will cover aspects of Historical Analog Photography from Wet plate Collodion to Platinum printing and areas in between. The workshops will merge 21st century technology with 19th century photography by teaching the creation of enlarged digital negatives and bringing them into the traditional darkroom to print.
